Sherwood Estate Stoney Range Sauvignon Blanc
Sherwood Estate is a family-run winery headed up by husband-and-wife team Dayne and Jill Sherwood. They are very proud of their Sauvignon Blancs, and rightly so.
This excellent value example offers classic Marlborough Sauvignon character but with a notable and attractive restraint. The grapes are grown on Dayne and Jill's own vineyards, situated at either end of the Rapaura Road in Marlborough, and are harvested in the cool of night for extra freshness. The stony soils give a characteristic intensity to the wine, and experienced winemaker Petter Evans has handled the fruit with great care in order to retain all that freshness and minerality in the wine.
Tasting Note:
A pronounced, herbaceous nose with plenty of ripe gooseberries, guava and nettles on the nose - very typically Marlborough style. The palate is crisp, racy and mouthwatering with hints of grapefruit, guava and gooseberry followed by a long, enticing finish.
