Oveja Negra 'Winemakers Selection' Sauvignon Blanc Carmenere

    Winemakers Note:

Our  Oveja Negra Reserva Sauvignon Blanc Carmenère white winen comes from the Maule Valley, 260 km (162 mi) south of Santiago, Chile. The valley features tremendous geographic diversity and a Mediterranean climate with well-defined seasons, including a warm, dry summer with a significant difference between daytime and night time temperatures and a cold, rainy winter.

The Sauvignon Blanc and Carmenère grapes come from our La Esperanza Estate. No canopy management is done on the Sauvignon Blanc. Carmenère, on the other hand, receives 2 deleafings during the season. The first takes place during the last week of December on the shoots exposed to the morning sun, and the second in late March on the shoots exposed to the afternoon sun. Both have similar yields of 10-12 tons per hectare, no cluster thinning was necessary.

    Tasting Note:

This Sauvignon Blanc/Carmenère is a unique fresh and aromatic wine with citrus notes such as grapefruit, a hint of tropical fruit, a subtle mineral character, and an herbal touch from the Carmenère.

    Blend:  Sauvignon Blanc 85% | Carmenere 15%

    Vintage: 2010

    Region: Maule Valley
